Ground Motions - TCU079

blueline.JPG (929 bytes)
The TCU079 record (N 23.840, E 120.894) was the farthest motion considered from the Ji Lu at an approximate distance of 12.89 km (Figure 1).  This motion was recorded at 8.3 km from the Chi-Chi epicenter.

Figure 1 - Location of TCU079 relative to the Ji Lu
The corrected record rotated to the longitudinal direction of the Ji Lu showed a peak ground acceleration of .46g.  The integrated velocity record had a peak ground velocity (PGV) of 12.5 in/sec (Figure 2).

Figure 2 - Rotated and Corrected acceleration and velocity records longitudinal to the Ji-Lu bridge
This corrected record rotated to the transverse direction of the Ji Lu had a PGA of .6g and a PGV of 30 in/sec (Figure 3).  However, the 30 in/sec velocity was a spike and appears to be an aberration of the instrumentation.
